Studies on the number of species are still continuing. Temporary numeric information is given in the following tables. Results are based upon the Info-system the Cesa. Independently, Cesa is interested particularly in the Old World Lepidoptera fauna, ecology and taxonomy. In its own databank of the Cesa, 99051 classified Lepidopteran taxa have been recorded so far (more than 1/3 of the World).  Among them number of the recorded valid generic names: 8700,  number of the recorded valid specific names: 65416; number of the recorded valid subspecific names: 22923; number of the recorded family group taxa: 936.

How many butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) are living in 6010 countries, regions, provinces, etc. of the World?
